St. Nicholas of Myra — Wall Icon

St. Nicholas of Myra — Wall Icon

A serene and authoritative image of St. Nicholas of Myra, the beloved wonderworker and protector of the faithful. Depicted with a calm and discerning presence, he raises his hand in blessing while holding the Gospel—an enduring image of pastoral care, wisdom, and quiet strength.

This icon is rendered in a distinctive mosaic-inspired painting technique, where the surface is built through countless individual color notes—echoing the visual rhythm of ancient tesserae while retaining the depth and nuance of painted form. The result is a living surface that shifts subtly with light, inviting both contemplation and presence.

Rooted in the living tradition of the Church, the image reflects the life and witness of a saint known for his compassion, generosity, and unwavering defense of the faith. It recalls the words of Scripture:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:16
