The Most Holy Theotokos with Christ Child

The Most Holy Theotokos with Christ Child — Wall Icon

A tender and contemplative image of the Most Holy Theotokos with the Christ Child, expressing the profound love through quiet intimacy and grace. The Mother inclines her head gently toward the Child, who rests in her arms—an enduring image of divine love, humility, and the union of heaven and earth.

This icon is developed through a layered and tactile painting approach, where color is applied in small, deliberate passages to build form, light, and presence. Rather than relying on smooth transitions, the image emerges through accumulation—creating a subtle vibration that gives the surface depth and a quiet sense of life.

Within the tradition of the Church, the Theotokos is both mother and guide, pointing always toward Christ. Her gesture draws the viewer inward, inviting contemplation, prayer, and stillness. The image recalls the words of Scripture:

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
— Isaiah 7:14
