St. George the Great Martyr — Wall Icon
A dynamic and commanding image of St. George, the great martyr and warrior-saint, captured in the moment of confrontation—where courage, faith, and resolve meet. Mounted on horseback and advancing with purpose, he embodies the enduring struggle between light and darkness, offering a powerful image of protection, conviction, and spiritual strength.
This icon is developed through a layered and tactile painting approach, where color is applied in small, deliberate passages to build form, light, and movement. Rather than relying on smooth blending, the surface emerges through accumulation—creating a subtle vibration that brings the image to life.
Within the tradition of the Church, St. George stands not only as a figure of heroic action, but as a witness to unwavering faith. His image points beyond the visible narrative, toward the deeper call to perseverance, courage, and trust in the face of adversity. It recalls the words of Scripture:
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life.”
— 1 Timothy 6:12
